new national curriculum
Earlier this year, the Department for Education released the new National Curriculum for England on their website. The purposes of the changes are outlined so that ‘The National Curriculum provides pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. It introduces pupils to the best that has been thought and said; and helps engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.’
Each curriculum area has a programme of study that needs to be taught throughout each year and there have been lots of changes made. Some objectives have changed year groups so pupils will be taught them earlier and new ones added.
With this in mind, staff have been working hard to ensure that they are aware of the
changes and are prepared to teach the new curriculum in September. We have purchased the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) to ensure the objectives are taught. There will be an information session for parents/carers in September and a topic letter sent home.
