22nd January 1944 Allied Troops make and amphibious landing at Anzio Italy behind German Lines.
16th-19th February 1944 German troops attack the Anzio beachhead in an attempt to wipe the Allies out. Due to air attack and artillery support the Germans were forced to retire on the 19th of February
6th June 1944 "Operation Overlord" or "D Day" begins with Allied landings in Normandy, Northern France.
3-11 July 1944 A large German force is encircled by Soviet forces at Minsk, Belorussia. It was destroyed over the following week.
9th July 1944 Japanese resistance eventually collapses in Saipan
25th July 1944 Operation Cobra. The attempt of Allied forces to break out of Normandy begins.
25th August 1944 Paris is liberated from German control.
17th September 1944 Operation Market Garden begins-General Montgomery thrusts across Holland to win the war by Christmas. Attempts to breaks through fail.
20th October 1944 U.S. forces land in Philippines; General MacArthur keeps his 1942 promise: "I shall return."
The whole Japanese fleet sets sail intent on stopping the allied landing on the Philippines.
24th October 1944 The Battle of Leyte Gulf begins in earnest. It will be the largest navel battle of World War two.
28th October 1944 The Battle of Leyte Gulf end in a massive U.S. victory. The Imperial Japanese navy is destroyed.
16th December 1944 The Germans launch a large attack called the Battle of the Bulge. They lose to the Allies and seals the German armies fate.
